Grade 6 Leders

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Leders and their families for a wonderful school year. We were able to create a wonderful chracter community and I am hoping that the skills that you learned will help you as you transition to Grade Seven! Enjoy your summer and best of luck in Grade Seven...Let's go Leders!!!

We celebrated our success as a Character Leder Community today. Each student received a personalized Character LeAder diploma to officiate each student as an official Character LeAder ready to take on the challenges of Grade 7! Congratulations Class of Character LeAders 2019!

Congratulations to Aiden, Vasili, Parisa and Diya for particpating in the Soccer Area Meet on Thursday. You did great and hope you had fun!

For DPA this morning, the Leders celebrated the Raptors victory from last night and we had a parade!

A special thanks to Afin for designing a Raptors Poster. Before he coloured ours, we copied one for every class in the school and now BHES is sending the Toronto Raptors positive Bayview Hill Community vibes for tonight's BIG game...

Today our Leder Community enjoyed watching a movie with different flavoured popcorn. Thanks again for your support so that we were able to raise money to help people in Kenya. A special thanks to the school's CIA for organizing our popcorn party for us!

Our class showed such spirit and enthusiasm towards the Toronto Raptors making NBA Champtionship playoffs when BHES celebrated Raptor Spirit Day! A special thanks to Afin for designing a poster that has been copied and given to all classes at BHES to colour and post in their classrooms.

Today we said goodbye to Mr. Xu! We really enjoyed having him join the Leder community over the past two weeks. We wish him lots of success when he returns to university in the fall.

We would like to thank all the families for their generous donations for the Walk to Water Campaign led by our school's CIA club. We raised the most money in the Junior Division and as a result, our class has earned a popcorn and movie party!

We would like to thank Elaine Strada, Hearing Teacher (YRDSB) for doing an amazing simulation workshop with our students. We definitely learn a lot of great strategies to help us include all our students!

We would like to welcome our new Student Teacher to our Leder Community! Mr. Xu will be with us until Friday, May 17th.

Way to go to all the Arts Night performers who did an amazing job! We are so fortunate to have such talent in our class!

The Junior Girls Basketball Team won their first CHAMPIONSHIP in BHES history and we are so proud of them. As Leders, we were proud that 7 of the players are from our class!

On Wednesday, our students were fortunate to have Mr. Sanderson to a workshop focusing on Autism. We all learned a lot from him that afternoon.

Congratulations to both the girls and boys Junior Basketball Teams for their performance this week in their games on Thursday. A special congratulations is extended to Madeleine for being nominated by her peers for the Sportsmanship Award!

Some of our students did a great job at today's assembly when they informed the whole school about a project our class has started working on with Mrs. Cooper. The first step was to come up with a theme for the Dance-o-Thon and after surveying about 200 students, "No Theme" won so we decided to put a positive spin on it and turn it into a "Be Yourself" theme to focus on the importance on Belonging at BHES! We will also be leading some of the maker space activities in the Learning Commons...stay tuned for more details as the Leders continue to Lead...

Way Way to go Anthonhy and Vasili for leading both assemblies today! 

The students were very enthusiastic about helping our environment today when we went outside after lunch recess with special gloves and bags to pick up litter from our school property. It was nice to help our environment and our caretakers!

The students did such a great job learning some of the moves for our first dance. Way to Go!

We honoured Ms. C on her last day with a presentation and a book of Thank You Stars which the students designed on their own. Thanks so much for being a great Student Teacher!

We had so much fun at the Science Centre where we had the opportunity to further investigate our current unit on Space.

We were so proud of Afin and Alisha who performed at this week's Spirit Assembly. They were very creative in transforming the Win dialogue into a version they called, "Lettuce for Life". Way to Go!

Today the students investigated the cubic metre in math by creating their own so they could actually see what it looked like. Thanks Ms. C for a great Measurement Lesson today!

Thanks to Ms. C for leading our final project in our Science Unit focusing on Electricity!

Congratultions to Alisha (1st place), Spencer (2nd place), Aiden (3rd place) & Anthony (4th place) on being our round #2 winners by earning over 1 million Way to Go points!

We would like to welcome Ms. Chaudhary to our Leder Community. She started her block placement with us on Monday, February 11th and will be in our classroom until the March Break. We look forward to having her as the newest member of the Leder Community!

We had so much fun today on our field trip to the ROC. A special thanks to Mr. Foo (our former student teacher) and to Ms. C (our new student teacher) for volunteering on this trip!
